Unos meses despu\u00e9s, durante un viaje a Inglaterra, Ni\u00e9pce regal\u00f3 la fotograf\u00eda al bot\u00e1nico Franz Bauer. Tras la muerte de Bauer, la imagen fue subastada en Christie\u2019s, donde Robert Brown, conservador del Museo Brit\u00e1nico, la adquiri\u00f3. A la muerte de Brown en 1858, su asistente, J.J. Bennet, hered\u00f3 la placa. Permaneci\u00f3 en la familia Bennett hasta 1884, cuando decidieron venderla en una subasta. La placa fue comprada por H. Baden-Pritchard, editor del <em>Photographic News<\/em>, quien falleci\u00f3 dos semanas despu\u00e9s de adquirirla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La esposa de Baden-Pritchard conserv\u00f3 la placa hasta su muerte en 1917. Durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, el hijo de la pareja recibi\u00f3 un permiso de tres d\u00edas para enterrar a su madre.
